Chengdu Metro Line 2 has a total length of 42.3 kilometers with 32 stations, including 28 underground stations and 4 elevated stations. It is the second subway line built and operated in Chengdu.
Chengdu Metro Line 2 started its first phase of construction on September 16, 2012 (Chadianzi Passenger Station to Chengdu Administrative College Station). On June 28, 2013, The second phase of the West Extension Line project (Chadianzi Passenger Station to Xipu Station) was opened. On October 26, 2014, the second phase of the East Extension Line project (Chengdu Administration College Station to Longquanyi Station) was opened.
Chengdu Metro Line 2 starts at Xipu Station and passes through the Pudu District, Jinniu District, Qingyang District, Jinjiang District, Chenghua District and Longquanyi District. It stops at Longquanyi Station and is roughly go through from southeast to northwest.
As of October 2018, the maximum single-day passenger traffic of Chengdu Metro Line 2 was 927,700 passengers on September 21, 2018.
